If you have questions that are not listed, or want to talk with someone regarding your survey responses, e-mail mostwired@healthforum.com. This mailbox is checked frequently and your questions are usually answered within two business days.
1 . How do I receive a pass code or user ID?
Send an e-mail to mostwired@healthforum.com with your organization's name, city and state. Many hospitals have the same name; please do not forget to include city and state.
2. Can I save the survey and finish it later?
Yes. Click on the save button at the bottom of each page to save your survey. In addition, multiple people may access your survey by using the same user ID and pass code.
3. Can my organization be named in more than one category?
Yes, organizations can be named both Most Wired and Most Wireless. But organizations receiving the Most Wired designation will not also be named Most Improved or Most Wired--Small and Rural.
4. Where is the survey for Most Wireless?
The Most Wireless designation is based on responses to the entire survey. There is no separate survey.
5. Why can't I find the application for the Innovator or Supply Chain Innovator awards?
The Innovator and Supply Chain Innovator awards have been discontinued.
6. Is there a way to get a copy of the full survey so I can determine if we want to participate or to research the questions before inputting the answers online?
A PDF of the complete survey is available in a password-secured area on the survey site. The CIO should e-mail us at mostwired@healthforum.com for access.
7. Some questions require a screenshot. Where should I send the screenshot?
Screenshots should be e-mailed to mostwired@healthforum.com. If you are having difficultly sending a screenshot, please contact us.
8. I am filling out the survey for more than one hospital. How do I answer?
If you are filling out the survey for more than one hospital, your answers must reflect the AVERAGE OF ALL HOSPITALS represented.
Example:
Question 9. For what percentage of pharmaceutical supplies is an electronic order generated when they reach a predetermined par level?
- None
- 1-20%
- 21-40%
- 41-60%
- 61-80%
- 81-100%
If you are answering the survey for 10 hospitals and 3 of the 10 hospitals order 100% of supplies electronically and the other seven order 0% electronically, you should check the 21-40% box since 30% is the weighted average across the entire system.
9. Can we put the entire hospital campus (3 hospitals) on one survey? Or would you prefer if we filled out a survey for each hospital?
You may put the entire campus on one survey.
10. Are all questions scored?
All required questions must have answers in order to be considered for one of the Most Wired awards. Questions under the categories of "Organizational Information" and "General Information" are used for identification and benchmarking purposes only.
11. Should outsourcing or application service provider models be included?
Yes.
12. On Question 5, "Which of the following wireless applications does your organization support?" you mention "support." Will "have" suffice?
The wireless application needs to be actively used.
13. The survey language in Question 13 says the "payer's Web site." We verify almost all of our cases electronically, but it may be through a "clearinghouse" and not the actual payer's Web site. Will the clearinghouse also serve as the payer's Web site?
A clearinghouse also serves as the payer's Web site.
14. On Question 13, the paragraph above the table states "835 Health Care Claim Payment / Advice Transaction Set Implementation" but then the table states "e. Electronic funds transfer (EFT)." These are two separate things. The 835 is the payment detail, and the EFT is the actual payment. Please clarify.
Sorry for the confusion. For Q13e, the response for electronic funds transfer should be the actual payment.
15. Question 19 asks about educational resources provided to employees. Can this include physicians who are not employees?
Yes, include all educational resources the organization provides on information systems and enterprise-wide applications to physicians, regardless of whether or not they are employees.
16. Question 22 asks to estimate the percentage of medications matched to the patient by category. Are you looking for medications dispensed or administered?
Medications administered.
17. Question 33, electronic system for medication reconciliation, b. — "Develop list of medications to be prescribed." Is this a list of new prescriptions? Is this the list of home meds? How can it predict what is supposed to be prescribed?
For 33.b. the list of medications to be prescribed refers to new medications that are entered electronically based on the patient's presenting clinical conditions, reason for admission and medical history, relevant safety alerts and clinical decision support provided. In 33.b.if previous hospital admissions are in the hospital EMR, then previous medications, doses and patient adverse reactions/allergies may appear in the system.
18. Question 49 asks about electronic exchanges of data. Does a fax also qualify as an electronic exchange?
No, unless data could be extracted from the transaction.
19. Should depreciation and IT expenses in other departments be included in IT operating expense?
Yes, these expenses are important to include for total operating costs.
20. What should be included in IT capital? We usually include the costs for acquisition, licensing and implementation for infrastructure (hardware, storage, network, data center) and software, as allowed by what can be capitalized per GAP. As an example, we would include the cost of the PACS application, hardware, etc. but we would not include the digital acquisition devices that we added or swapped out over time.
IT capital expense includes IT related capital included in the budget of other departments (e.g., lab, radiology, etc.), if known or can be reasonably estimated. Include the total value of capital leases to be signed in the current year.
21. Our organization is planning to have this technology in place later this year. Can I go ahead and answer the question as if we already had it in place?
All technology should be in place by MARCH 1, 2010.
22. When will I know if my organization is a winner?
We send e-mail notifications in late April to all participants to let them know if they received a Most Wired designation or not.
23. My organization is a winner. What happens next?
The award notification e-mail will ask how exactly your organization's name should appear on the award plaque. It will also include information on the Leadership Summit, benchmarking reports and Most Wired merchandise.
24. When is the embargo date?
Mid-July is the embargo date. We ask that Most Wired winners do not publicize their awards until after this date. We will send out a press release in mid-July announcing the awards. In addition, the July cover story of H&HN will feature the results along with a list of all winners.
25. Where can I find logos and press releases to market my Most Wired award?
A secure Web link is e-mailed to both the CIO and person who completed the survey from each winning organization. If you have not received this Web link, e-mail mostwired@healthforum.com.
26. Can I purchase an additional plaque for my organization?
Yes. Please visit our vendor Web site at http://mostwired.myaia.com.
27. Can I use the Most Wired logo for shirts or other items for my staff?
All products with the Most Wired award logo must be purchased through the approved vendor, Promo Providers. Award recipients may not reproduce the Most Wired award trademark on mementos, apparel, or other products. Promo Providers will work with Most Wired winners on customizing products; please contact them at sales@promoproviders.com or 248-756-3855 and they will assist you with your merchandise needs.
28. What should we expect if someone from my organization attends the Leadership Summit as a Most Wired winner?
Attendees will receive a discounted registration rate for the Leadership Summit (July 22-24 in San Diego). A special session will feature results of this year's survey with recognition of winners at a keynote session. Group and individual photos will be taken.
29. I haven't received my organization's benchmark report. When can I expect it?
Reports are sent out in early September. The benchmark report e-mail may have been filtered by your e-mail server. Please e-mail mostwired@healthforum.com to request your organization's report.
30. How can I get a copy of benchmark reports from previous years?
Please e-mail mostwired@healthforum.com to request past years' reports.
